Classroom Management Case Study - Layla

Layla is an intelligent, very talkative female in a low level algebra class. Her academic ability is superior to most of the other students in her math class. She often finishes work quickly (and correctly) and talks to others. She can be loud – sometimes talking to people across the room during classwork time. She sometimes curses as she is having a conversation. She is typically respectful towards the teacher.

Classroom Management Case Study -

Jeff and Tim are in a low level algebra 1 class. Both are classified as having a social emotional disturbance that interferes with their education so they have IEPs. Both make comments to each other that are usually kidding in nature but often result in more serious interaction with bad feelings. Sometimes they simply react to the comments of the other even if the comment was not directed towards them.

Classroom Management Case Study - Farrah

Farrah is an intelligent, gregarious freshman in a college prep algebra class. Her educational achievement doesn’t match her intelligence. She often gets frustrated and gives up on problems that are challenging, mostly because she does not use her notes. She often talks at inappropriate times and giggles during instruction. When she gets a problem right she sometimes responds aloud with pride, “Ayyy, I’m a thug!”
